Over 900 pieces of design furnitures by 250 designers under one roof.

In 2018 my parents Kersti Sandin Bülow and Lars Bülow founded the Museum of furniture studies located in Stockholm. The Museum’s private collection currently consists of over 700 items, of which 500 are on display. The collection includes furniture by eminent Nordic and international designers from the end of the 19th century until today, with over 250 designers represented making it one of Europe’s biggest private collections that are open for the public.

The museum aims to inspire an interest in the study of furniture. It is targeted mainly at those studying design, architecture, and crafts, but will also be of interest to professionals working in these fields and to anyone with a general interest in design. With different exhibitions, seminars, and workshops the museum wants to spark and evolve the discussion about furniture design.

My role in this project has been to create the overall digital branding for the museum with a website and various social media accounts. All photographs for the museum have been taken by me in our studio in Frihamnen and have been featured in various design magazines around the world. Client Brief:

“We want to make a unique event app that would be attractive and exciting for our gamers to use during the festival.”

Solution:

November 2018 was the first year for Red Bull’s EWKND, a festival taking place over three days in central Stockholm with the main focus on Esports and gaming. Together with the producer Alex Shultz and the developer Alexander yngling I created an event app for IOS and Android to maximize the experiences for the visitors. Beyond just show the traditional event calendar the app was also filled with other more exciting features like creating your schedule, buying tickets, delivering updates and news to the users, that could also view live streams.

But that was not all. We also built a treasure hunt game right in the app. During the festival, users got notified via the build-in map when new “Loot Crates” got dropped around central Stockholm. The first person who finds the crates and scans the QR code with the scanner, also built into the app, would win big prizes like flight tickets and computers. This game was a big hit and multiple famous influencers and streamers streamed the treasure hunt live on twitch and Youtube.

During two days we shot a hundred amazing crazy socks.

I got the opportunity to do two photo shoots for the summer & winter collection with Hysteria, a subsidiary sock brand to Happy Socks and my all-time favorite clothing brand. During two days we shot over one hundred beautiful crazy-looking socks and around two hundred finalized images.

Client Brief:

“How can we creatively educate our retailers and consumers to make them aware of our new recyclable capsules?”

Solution:

In early 2018 we got approached with a brief from Nespresso HQ in Stockholm. They wanted to educate their retailers about Nespressos recyclable capsules. have been wanting to develop a VR experience for some time with our local-based freelance creative team, containing Alex Shultz as creative producers, Emil Jönsson as lead game designer, and me as creative director, sprung to action right away.

Knowing that the game would be displayed in stores and at events so the length of the VR experience couldn’t be longer than 3 minutes per player. The confined physical space was also something we had to acknowledge when we develop the player’s ability to move in the game. Many of our users were also first-timers in VR so the game had to be easy to understand and play. With these limitations in mind, we created a competitive game where the player has two minutes to shoot as many used capsules into the opening and closing bins. We keep the scores on a leader board and at the end of the day, the person who recycled the most capsules won a Nespresso machine.

We put a lot of effort into creating a memorable experience for the player. With a stylized 3D environment, filled with tropical sounds and Latin music, we teleported the users from the boring event hall to a Caribbean island where we educated them about Nespresso’s recyclable capsules via a playful voice-over.

The game was a hit and due to the player’s competitive nature, a lot of people replayed the VR experience multiple times to beat their scores. Nespresso’s VR game is now a standard on many Nespresso events in Sweden.

We gathered and photographed over seventy pieces of furniture from producers located all over the country.

During autumn 2017 we photographed over seventy furniture designs by Carl Malmsten for the new Malmsten Foundation’s archive website. The licensed collection is being produced by three major producers spread out all over Sweden. The hardest part was to organize, transport, and store all furniture. All and all, It took about ten weeks to produce and edit the over 200 documentary photographs. Every archive item is shot from two separate camera angles and complimented with a third more detailed picture of the object.

Client’s Brief:

“The Humble Co. wants to evolve the traditional Swedish dental care industry and make dental appointments more accessible, faster & cheaper for the patients.”

Solution:

The team behind the successful dental brand The Humble Company asked Third Act to help them digitalize dental appointments. Our solution was a video Call app for IOS & Android where patients could get an instant appointment with a certified dentist. This digital solution eliminates the need of booking in advance and with more flexible opening hours the consultation could be held on the patient's terms and in the comfort of their home. The method enabled DentMe to keep its costs down and offer a much cheaper price than traditionalist dentistry.

We created a chatbot to tackle the long waiting queue - a simple chat system with easy and understandable questions. This allowed the patient to add important information before the meeting to keep the data clear and lower the overall length of the consultation. The appointed dentist could then read, edit and comment on the answers via the custom-built backend before and during, and after the meeting. All confidential dental records are kept on encrypted servers and to be able to log in to your account the patients need to use Bank ID.

Client Brief:

“Help us create an online community-building marketplace for craftsmen and at the same time make it easy for the customer to find the right person for the job.”

Solution:

It's getting harder to find the right craftsman for your everyday fixes around the house. New reports show a decrease in customer satisfaction. Many consumers are afraid of getting scammed or having to overpay for added services they didn’t account for. Due to this uncertainty building trust between the client and service provider is hard and people tend to rehire local craftsman they know instead of searching for more qualified experts that are more suited for the role. At the same time, smaller companies are having a hard time finding new clients without overspending on digital ads. Many solely rely on referrals and Google ratings from previous customers.

Toolit strives to become a market-leading on-demand service app connecting users all over Sweden to local craftsmen. To help Toolit achieve that goal we created an online bidding system where the user posts a job containing information about the problem they need to be fixed. The customer can Also add available dates, meta tags, pictures, and location to give a more accurate description of the problem.

Iphone_12_5.png

The job will then be posted on the dynamic board for all certified craftsmen to see. Tags and location filters can also be used to help to find the most suitable local jobs. Here Craftsman can find and bid on the jobs by supplying a price estimate and a personal message. The customer can then select the best person for the job. The price bidding ensures that the customers always get the correct and fair price estimate.

If the customer feels uncertain they can visit the craftsman's page in the app to read more about them & their services. They can also download certificates, view ratings, and read reviews from previous clients using the app. To further build trust we create an in-app secure payment system to make it easy and safe for the customers to pay for the service and at the same time make sure that the craftsman receives their payment in time.

Client’s Brief:

“Our mission is to help the Swedish population feel safer when traveling on the road. We want to be there for them when they need us the most, wherever they are in the country.”

Solution:

Every year over one million people are in the need of road assistance in Sweden. Due to the overcomplicated and outdated car insurance system, few know who they should turn to in the time of need. AssistMe wanted to change that by creating an all-encompassing road assistant app so that people can feel safe on the road knowing that no matter what someone will always be there.

Together with Third Act we developed an application with a focus on navigation and ease of use. We wanted to make the UX & UI easy for the user to understand due to the high stress and shock that can occur when being involved with car accidents.

One of our main goals was to make the process of ordering assistance as quick and painless as possible. With the help of AI, we were able to offer assistance up to seven times faster than other Solutions by eliminating phone queues, local operational systems & human errors. With our system connected to a dozen different assistance networks throughout Sweden AssistMe were able to guarantee the driver that they would get the closest assistance vehicle or tow truck by the click of a button. The app would send live updates, ETA and guide the user with step-by-step actions.

Competition brief:

“How can we aid the Swedish people in their everyday life and make the world a safer place to live in?”

Once a year the Swedish insurance company IF hosts their own Innovation Awards - Tryggare Vardag, aiming to help small start-ups with innovative ideas to make it safer for the Swedish population. Ideas from over five hundred Swedish companies get submitted every year. 2018 we won the grand prize for our chatbot called Reseroboten, created to aid Swedish people traveling abroad.

Our project:

When on traveling foot some information is harder to get a hold of than others. Via a quick google search you can easily find out the top-rated restaurants and hotels in your area but do you know the nearest hospital, the number to your local Swedish embassy or what kind of vaccines you should consider taking before you travel, or what kind of insurance that would best fit your needs.

We wanted to make this information easily accessible to everyone 24/7 where ever you are located in the world. Our solution was to create a chatbot scraping the web for data so you don’t have to look up the information yourself, just ask our robot and you will receive the answer in seconds.

A chatbot was the perfect fit to our idé due to its simple questions-and-answers best function, making it easy to adapt to any chat function in any app, making our free service, easily accessible in any interface and app our users are most comfortable to use - just add us as a friend in face messenger, Snapchat, Instagram, Linkedin etc.

We did not just want this interaction to be quick and easy to understand, but also a fun experience. We spent a lot of time developing how our robot speaks to you, which is something a lot of chatbot services overlook. We wanted our robot to be your traveling companion, always online and ready to help you when in need.

Client Brief:

“How can we modernize our company’s digital identity for the new technological era in gene-based therapies?”

Our solution:

FIT Biotech is a Finnish biotechnology company operating at the international level. They aim to achieve a leading position as a developer of gene-based therapies. FIT Biotech reached out to our freelance team in need to re-design their digital branding to attract new potential investors.

In late 2017 Alex Shultz, the creative producer for the project, and I traveled to Helsinki for a full day branding workshop with the FIT team to learn more about the company’s core values. We ended up doing a full re-vamping of FIT Biotech’s brand identity and digital presents with a new logotype, visual identity, and digital platform optimized for all devices.

We shot twenty unique beauty product setups within one workday.

Eucerin Sweden wanted to ramp up their social presents on Instagram and Facebook and attract new followers to its channels. Wavemaker came up with the idea to shoot high beauty product images to be used as an advertisement to draw new followers to Eucerin’s accounts. We wanted to see how many of these images we could shoot in one day and ended up with twenty unique setups.

We create a cloud-based digital solution for small companies in need of a journal-based data collection system for their patients.

In 2017 a new law was passed by the Swedish government stating that all future journal records held by the home care companies have to be stored in digital form. Two separate companies approached us looking for a solution. Instead of developing unique solutions for both of them, we decided to create a web & cloud-based digital service that would work for multiple companies.

Our web app is easy to use and is accessible from all smart devices and browsers. All data is encrypted and securely stored on GDPR approved servers located in Scandinavian and are accessible 24/7 via the cloud. Our service is account-based with a yearly billed fee for keeping your data securely stored.

A 2015 Short film Starring Darrio Stangl, written & directed by Leo Bülow and produced by Alex Mill.

In the winter of 2015, a tight crew of young aspiring filmmakers from seven different countries got together to shoot our first big short film during three cold winter nights on a rooftop in Canary Wharf. This short was produced as part of our graduation project from Central Film School in London.

I wanted to create a compelling and emotional survival story without any dialogue so that anyone, anywhere could understand the theme and at the same time make it exciting enough to keep the viewer's attention. With the tight budget of 2200£ and only four weeks to write and produce this was set to be a hard task. Without the hard-working producer Alex Mill and the other young and amazing crew members, this idea would never have seen any light of day. This project allowed me to work with the method actor Darrio Stangl, that taught me a lot about how to express emotion on screen. It also gave me the chance to work closely with the composer Jolijn Geothals to create a custom score.
